East New York Prepares To Get Hit With Influx of Hotel Developments

According to YIMBY, an anonymous Rosyln, N.Y.-based LLC has filed applications for two four-story, 60-key hotels at 268-272 Williams Avenue, on the western end of East New York. The buildings will measure 25,399 square feet each. Across both, hotel rooms should average 250 square feet apiece and will be located across the cellar through fourth floors. Manish Savani’s Jamaica-based firm is the architect of record.

The question the East New York community has to ask is, how will these hotels impact the neighborhood? What kind of hotels will be built?  Are they no-name motels, similar to the horrible Galaxy Motel on Pennsylvania Ave?

We will reach out to Community Board #5 and the local elected officials to find out where they stand on this issue, and what processes are available to avoid a negative impact on the community.

We want to make sure the East New York Community is aware and totally informed of the development of these hotels. Our writers of EastNewYork.com follow up with the Community Board and elected officials and will report back to the members of EastNewYork.com. Be sure to stay tuned.

Do we need more hotels in the area? Are these hotels going to be motels for those one night stands…..Will these hotels be used to accomodate the homeless….

With hotels located near schools, I’d be concerned with possible abductions, prostitution, sex trafficking, as well as more drugs and crime. What security measures are being put in place?
