Senator Persaud Joins Congressman Jeffries As She Announces Her Endorsement of Nikki Lucas for Assembly in the 60th District

Posted By NYC Newswire

Yesterday Senator Roxanne Persaud announced her endorsement of Nikki Lucas for New York State Assembly. Lucas is running as the Democratic Nominee in the special election taking place Tuesday February 15, 2022. The seat, which is open, was held by Charles Barron, who moved over to the City Council seat last month. This will be the first time in decades that both seats were not held by a Barron.  This is the first step towards change in East New York in over 20 years.

“Nikki is a force of nature and I’m proud to endorse her for the 60th. Her long history and deep roots in the community highlight her passion for improving the lives of all New Yorkers. I look forward to working with her in Albany soon,” said Senator Persaud.

“I am thrilled to have Senator Persaud’s support and endorsement.  I look forward to continuing our partnership in Albany to bring more resources to East New York, Brownsville, and Canarsie,” said Lucas.

This is the second major endorsement that Liucas has received in the past week. Congressman Hakeem Jeffries announced his support for Lucas this past Monday. These endorsements are important for residents of East New York, Brownsville and Canarsie because this would be the first time in decades that the community would have various levels of government working together.
