Livestream NYCHA Handed to Private Bad Acting Developers on VOICES of East New York With Nikki Lucas and Guest Kristen Hackett

Posted By NYC Newswire

Kristen Hackett, member of The Justice for All Coalition, and writer of the OpEd ‘Three NYCHA Plans That Will Privatize NYCHA‘ was recently the guest on VOICES of East New York with Nikki Lucas.

This discussion breaks down the 3 plans that NYC has introduced as an answer to the NYCHA woes.  All 3 plans point to New York City handing NYCHA over to private developers, which has the potential for gentrification on steroids and displacement of tenants.

Turning NYCHA over to private developers is a big step towards gentrification and displacement of current residents. Privatization impacts the entire community.

Your 10/14/2020 talk on NYCHA was very informative. I hear hope and look forward on seeing promise. As a property homeowner, I would like to be involved, too some extent on advocating the non-sale of ENY. PS. Just a suggestion, your backdrop featuring a splash of ink/explosion of some sort on your main screen is not warm and welcoming and maybe sending a self-defeating message at the seed of your protest. I look at it, together with your webpage presenting 3 bombs coming together as one, destructive, before the collaboration of organized groups get off the ground. Words have power. And pictures are figurative language interpret in words. To me, it looks like you are sending bombs to destroy a community. Just a profound thought. Think about it. Maybe what you can do to take away the dark, sober feeling of doom, is keep the bombs, brighten the background and in small script write, “The Balm of Gilead.” Loving what you are doing. In my prayers for strength, discernment and wisdom, Sincerely. Thank you, Valeria Sowell
