The Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium (CBJC) is best known for its Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival, but they also have programs for youth. One of their youth programs, Youth Jamboree/Wellness Day, is coupled with health and wellness.
The rationale for coupling health care with Jazz is based upon the “music as medicine” school of thought. Music’s effect on the well-being of the listener is documented. The emotional and physical condition of children is a contributing factor to their future productivity to society. CBJC invites health care providers to exhibit their services in proximity to the performance stage.
