The saying is that “All Politics is Local”. Well, here’s some local politics for Brooklyn, just as the 2021 election season kicks off.
The Brooklyn Democratic Party Executive Committee today elected Assembly Member Tremaine Wright as the new chair of the Kings County Democratic County Committee, replacing Carlo A. Scissura who stepped down yesterday.
Wright, who represents Brooklyn’s 56th Assembly District, will serve as chair through the County Committee meeting that resumes Wednesday, December 23rd, at 12 noon where a new slate of officers will be selected. Wright is a lawyer and former small business owner in Bedford-Stuyvesant, and headed the local community board before her election to the Assembly.
“I thank Chairwoman Bichotte and the Executive Committee for electing me Chair of the County Committee. It is an honor to represent the diverse voices that comprise our Brooklyn Democratic party. Our party must represent the interests and needs of all people in our unique borough”, stated Wright.
At Wednesday’s meeting, county committee members will be voting on new officers.
