Interactive Art, Culture, and Family Fun at Success Community Garden
The Brooklyn Museum is rolling out a fresh way to engage with communities across the borough, literally. On Saturday, August 16, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Museum on Wheels will make its East New York stop at the Success Community Garden, located at 461 Williams Ave., offering a free, hands-on art experience for all ages.
The announcement was recently published on NYC Newswire and is already generating excitement throughout the neighborhood.
Conceived in collaboration with local residents and cultural partners like The C.R.I.B. Family Enrichment Center, the Museum on Wheels is more than just an event—it’s a movement. Housed in a sleek Airstream trailer, this mobile museum carries touchable objects from the Brooklyn Museum’s teaching collection and offers an afternoon of creative exploration through art-making, interactive games, music, giveaways, and cultural education.

Art Meets the Community—Where They Are
“Sometimes, the best way to meet people where they are is to literally meet them where they are,” said Laval Bryant-Quigley, Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships at the Brooklyn Museum. “This mobile approach aims to stimulate creativity, foster a sense of curiosity, and encourage residents to envision broader possibilities for themselves and their communities.”
The Museum on Wheels was born out of a deep listening campaign with community-based organizations such as Brownsville Heritage House and El Puente in South Williamsburg. These listening sessions helped shape the programming and ensure the mobile museum reflects the voices, needs, and aspirations of Brooklyn neighborhoods.

What to Expect in East New York
At the East New York stop, attendees can expect:
- Hands-on art activities for children and adults
- Touchable teaching objects from the Brooklyn Museum collection
- Music and creative workshops
- Career insights in the arts and culture sector
- Games and giveaways designed to inspire creativity
The program is part of the Brooklyn Museum’s anniversary celebration and larger mission to reduce barriers to access by reimagining how cultural institutions connect with their surrounding communities.
“This isn’t just about bringing objects into neighborhoods. It’s about bringing opportunity, inspiration, and a sense of shared ownership over cultural spaces,” added Bryant-Quigley.
All Are Welcome
Whether you’re a longtime Brooklyn Museum visitor or experiencing its magic for the first time, the Museum on Wheels is designed for intergenerational fun and cultural exchange. This East New York event will be an unforgettable day for families, art lovers, and curious minds alike.
