Brooklyn’s Kota the Friend Secures 7th Film and TV Sync with ‘VOLVO’ in Netflix’s ‘Survival of the Thickest’

Brooklyn’s own independent hip-hop artist, Kota the Friend, continues to make waves in the entertainment industry with his seventh music synchronization placement. His track “VOLVO“, from his ‘EVERYTHING‘ album,  is featured in Season 2, Episode 7 of Netflix’s acclaimed series Survival of the Thickest. This marks Kota’s second contribution to the series; previously, his song “SoHo House” appeared in Season 1.

Kota’s music has resonated across various visual media platforms, showcasing his versatility and broad appeal. His notable sync placements include:

  • Scapegoat in Amazon Prime’s Emergency
  • Birdie in the film Karen
  • Mommy in Showtime’s The Chi
  • Mt. Fuji in Freeform’s Grown-ish

These collaborations not only amplify Kota’s reach but also underscore the growing recognition of his artistry in the film and television industry.

Kota, who has remained independent and innovative throughout his entire career just released an album titled ‘No Rap on Sunday’, this past Sunday, exclusively on the EVEN platform, which gives access directly to the fans. Expect to see some of his new songs on another Netflix or Amazon exclusive series.

JIG Media, under Jones’s leadership, is expanding its portfolio to work with more artists and athletes on similar deals,

including Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) agreements for athletes. The company is dedicated to providing comprehensive business management and consulting services for independent artists and athletes, ensuring they navigate the sports and music industries effectively while maximizing their potential.
