Brian L. Gotlieb, a current Civil Court Judge in Brooklyn, has entered the race for Kings County Supreme Court. Judge Gotlieb brings a rich background in both law and community advocacy as he pursues a leading judicial role in Brooklyn.

From Civil Court to Supreme Court

Elected in 2022, Judge Gotlieb has gained recognition for his steady courtroom presence and proactive management, as well as his respect for everyone who appears before him.

On the bench, Judge Gotlieb has overseen jury proceedings and managed intricate civil disputes. He has played an essential role in judicial innovation by representing Kings County on the Civil Court Case Streamlining Committee, in addition to co-chairing the Civil Kings Trial Committee, where he works to boost court efficiency and access.

“My goal in running for Kings County Supreme Court is to guarantee every individual in my court experiences fairness and respect,” Gotlieb declared when announcing his candidacy. “With the Supreme Court handling some of Brooklyn’s biggest cases, I promise to bring compassion and diligence, just as I do in Civil Court.”

A Lifelong Dedication to Service

Throughout his career, Judge Gotlieb has fostered community engagement, serving Brooklyn in numerous capacities beyond the bench. He was a member of Community Board 13 and Community School Board 21, continuously advocating for quality education, public safety, and housing.

Gotlieb also created Shorefront Toys for Tots to honor his mother’s memory, providing gifts to over 50,000 children. Peers cite his active involvement as an example of his ongoing commitment to serving the community directly from the judiciary.

“My mother taught me the value of giving back,” he explained. “Serving as a Supreme Court judge continues that tradition—making justice felt personally in our neighborhoods.”

In this election, Gotlieb is emphasizing compassion, integrity, and public trust as central ideals for the role of a judge.
