NYS Assemblywoman, Nikki Lucas, of the 60th Assembly District, in partnership with Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, will host the Annual Back-to-School Bookbag & School Supply Giveaway on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 11 AM to 6 PM on Vermont Street, between Linden Boulevard and Stanley Avenue, by Linden Park.
The family-friendly community event will provide free book bags, school supplies, food, haircuts, and hair braiding(attendees are asked to come with clean hair), as well as bouncy houses and free health screenings.
This year’s event will also feature a “Summer Sip Down: Sweet Tea vs. Lemonade” showdown, adding a fun twist for attendees to enjoy as they prepare for the upcoming school year.
The giveaway will be co-hosted by Male District Leader Michael Rosendary and Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, alongside a team of community partners and sponsors who are committed to supporting local families.

The event is made possible through the support of local organizations, including Fusion East, New Wave Dance, The Campaign Against Hunger, Brooklyn Blend, and other community-based partners.
Assemblywoman Nikki Lucas encouraged families to attend, stating, “Our goal is to make sure every child in the community starts the school year confident and ready to learn. This is about more than just supplies—it’s about showing our young people that the community is here to support them.”
