Kota the Friend Announces ‘No Rap on Sunday’ Tour, Kicking Off August 28!

Posted By Sandy Whitaker

Acclaimed indie hip hop musician Kota the Friend is heading on tour yet again, performing his much-loved No Rap on Sunday album in venues around the U.S. The No Rap on Sunday Tour begins Thursday, August 28 in Tampa, Florida, and wraps up in Brooklyn, New York on October 16—a homecoming show on his birthday.

A Multi-Faceted Artistic Campaign

For Kota, every album is more than music—it’s a comprehensive experience. No Rap on Sunday features an album, live tour, new merchandise, and a concept especially appealing to his supporters. The album has been among his most significant, premiering first for fans via the EVEN platform. This strategy rewarded superfans with exclusive access and strengthened Kota’s status as a top-tier indie creator.

Kota told NYC Newswire: “Each project I create is about deeper connections. For No Rap on Sunday, giving my community early access and taking it on tour felt essential.”

Boosting Up-and-Coming Artists: Kota’s Challenge

Demonstrating his passion for community, Kota unveiled the No Rap on Sunday Verse Challenge. Independent rappers across the US could submit a verse for the album’s title track. Selected winners in several cities will open for Kota at their local show and collaborate on a new song featuring a verse from Kota himself.

“The goal is to spotlight indie hip hop acts hustling the way I did,” Kota shared with NYC Newswire. “I want to help others gain new fans. I’m really excited to make music with the chosen artists and grow together.”

This collaborative initiative further showcases Kota’s commitment to supporting new voices in the scene.
